The Inspiration Behind Sonny's Work
I was born in North Sydney, and some of my earliest memories are of wandering the city while my parents worked long hours in the CBD. Those days gave me the chance to explore streets, laneways, and harbour views that most people rushed past. I grew up watching Sydney change — old buildings replaced, new towers rising, and the harbour always shining at the heart of it all.
That experience shaped how I see the city today. My photography is inspired by capturing those transformations — the mix of history and progress, stillness and movement — so that each image preserves a moment in time. Through my work, I want to share not just what Sydney looks like, but how it feels as it continues to grow and evolve.

You can find my prints at Gifts at The Quay in Sydney, where I work alongside my family in the business that has been part of the city for decades. It’s the very place my story began — growing up around the harbour, surrounded by the energy of Circular Quay, and watching both the city and our shop evolve over time.
